Marian L. Johnston

August 14, 1922 — August 10, 2014

Littleton, Colorado- Marian L. Johnston, 91, formerly of Erskine Ave. in Boardman, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Doyle on Sunday morning, August 10, 2014.

Mrs. Johnston was born August 14, 1922 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, a daughter of John D. and Jessie Fisher Everett.

Raised in Youngstown, Mrs. Johnston graduated from East High School. She began her career as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell before transferring to Southern Bell in West Palm Beach, Florida.

While in Florida, she met her future husband, Doyle C. Johnston (formerly of Mesa, Arizona) and upon moving back to Ohio, they married on December 14, 1946 at Trinity United Methodist Church. They made Boardman their home, raised three children and enjoyed 55 wonderful years together.

Marian worked for Ohio Bell until she retired after 34 years of service. She worked another 10 years as a switchboard operator for J.C. Penney at the Southern Park Mall. For the past eight years, she lived with her daughter Lori and son-in-law John in Littleton, Colorado.

Marian lived to love. She deeply loved her family and friends. She will be remembered for all her delicious baked goods and special family holiday meals. She loved to listen to music, especially Perry Como and rave about Lawrence Welk, and enjoyed reading books and magazines. The excitement in her voice is what will be missed the most and she will also be remembered for her strong faith and encouraging words.

Her husband preceded her in death on November 18, 2002. She is survived by her children, Geraldine (Edward) Ryan of Stockton, CA, Lynne (James) Schrichte of Cincinnati, Lori (Dr. John Aschberger) Johnston of Littleton, CO, and Todd Johnston of Boardman; sister, Evelyn (Chris) Johnson of Boardman; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved friends who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and John D. Everett Jr.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
