STRUTHERS - Marian W. Berg, 92 of Beeghley Oaks, formerly of Struthers, died Monday, May 9, 2011.
Mrs. Berg was born March 8, 1919 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Minnie Toth Poschner, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1937 graduate of Scienceville High School and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers. Marian went to Chicago in the 1950's to attend classes to floral arranging. While she was away, her husband turned their dining room into her flower shop. Mrs. Berg worked as a florist for over 50 years, and was the owner of Marian's Flowers, located at the corner of Fifth Street and Route 616 in Struthers, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; enjoyed playing bingo, playing the lottery, and most of all, playing cards and arranging flowers.
Her husband, Fred S. Berg whom she married June 17, 1937, died July 15, 1997.
She is survived by two daughters, Carole "Candy" Reesh of Evanston, IL., and Darlene "Deena" Mahaley of Poland, with whom she made her home; one son, Robert O. (Peggy) Berg of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, Bobby (Rose) Berg, Laurie Berg, Daniel (Despina) Reesh, Doug Reesh, Karen (Rob) Buckenmeyer, Shannon Mahaley, David (Sharon) Reesh and Joseph Venerose, a U.S. Marine, stationed in Afghanistan; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Enzo, Claudia, Stella and Maela Rose.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Otto Poschner.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 4:00 pm --7:00 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and Saturday from 9:00-9:45 am, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
