Marian D. Augustine

Lowellville - Marian D. Augustine, 87, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Hampton Woods.

Marian was born September 27, 1929 in Lowellville, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Primavera Augustine.

Living in Lowellville most of her life, Marian was a 1947 graduate of Lowellville High School. After graduation, she attended Fresno Community College in California, while working at Pacific Telephone & Telegraph. Returning to Lowellville in 1951, she began working for Rooney Optical Company in Youngstown, where she worked as an office administrator for over 25 years.

Over the years, she also worked for Gingham Corners Gift Shop, Newton Inn, Coach House Restaurant, Home Classics Gift Shop, and as a nanny for Dr. Cuttica for 13 years. Marian also enjoyed working in the box office for Uptown Theater and Easy Street Productions with Maureen Collins and Todd Hancock.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Marian was also a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, where she served as its women's auxiliary president for three terms. She was a leader in fundraisers for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, the Diabetes Association, and the Lowellville Park Apartment for Seniors.

Marian enjoyed hosting parties and setting themes for the tables and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She will always be remembered as a wonderful storyteller, who loved sharing stories about family and Lowellville history, her sense of humor, and contagious laughter.

Marian will be deeply missed by her sister, Carolyn LaViolette of Olympia, Washington; brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Augustine of Vermilion, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Randall (Bonnie) LaViolette, Karen (Takahiro) Nibe, Francine (Peter) Viola, Connie Augustine, Thomas R. (Gina) Augustine, Michele (Bill) Ward, and Cindy Augustine; and great nieces and nephews, Tomohiro and Maya Nibe, Brianna and Ashley Thompson, Alainna and Nathan Augustine, Will, Julia, and Lizzie Ward, and Olivia Augustine; and Goddaughter, Marybeth Lynch.

In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Evelyn Augustine; and nephew, Stuart LaViolette.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
