Boardman - Margot M. Kesler, 87, of Boardman, died Tuesday evening at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Margot, affectionately known as Maggie, was born April 4, 1924 in Karlsruhe, Germany, a daughter of Herman and Emma Anker Bindel.
Her family came to the United States and to Struthers when she was two years old.
A 1941 graduate of Struthers High School, Maggie, along with her husband David, owned and operated Kesler Agency Insurance where she was President. In 1981, Maggie sold the agency to Cailor Fleming Insurance, but continued to work for the Agency in the Bond Department until 2009.
Maggie was a professional business woman. She had two families in her life. Her first family, her children and grandchildren. Her second family, her co-workers. She loved her job and believed her reason for getting up in the morning was to go to work. She strongly believed in education and was continuously reminding her children the importance of an education, and the priority of working hard and putting a roof over their family's heads. Maggie touched many lives with her motto, "Live one day at a time".
Maggie was a true Matriarch and was the host of all their family gatherings. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her travels with them. She and her family spent many great vacations in Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and cruising the Caribbean.
Her husband David J. Kesler, whom she married September 4, 1948 died November 11, 1980. She leaves three daughters, Janice (Robert) Brasso of Pittsburgh, PA, Judith Kesler of Sacramento, CA, and Joanne (Gary) Guzak of Mars, PA; two sons, Dr. Jeff (Julie) Kesler of Toledo, and Dr. Jed (Lori) Kesler of Lewis Center, OH; three sisters, her best friend, Rose Colucci of Boardman, Doris Bindel of Struthers, and Lenore Salmen of Lancaster, OH; twelve grandchildren, Josh (Leah) Brasso, Jodi Brasso, Jill (Terrance) Raines, David Guzak, Tessa Guzak, Eric Guzak, Will Kesler, Nicholas Kesler, Maggie Kesler, Abby Kesler, Ari Kesler, and Brennan Kesler; and one great-grandson, Luke Kurtz.
Besides her parents and husband, Maggie was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Tortora and Irma LaVelle; and one brother, Herman Bindel.
Maggie loved her home at 83 Southwoods Ave. in Boardman and a Memorial Service will be held there Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 PM to celebrate her life.
