Poland - Margie Kernan Catanzarite, 82, of Poland, entered peacefully into rest with her family by her side on Monday morning at Northside Medical Cente.
Margie was born August 2, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas "Sport"and Ethel Daigneu Kernan. She was rasied in Youngstown and moved to Boardman 51 years ago.
A 1946 graduate of East High School, Margie worked at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for over 19 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church.
Margie enjoyed traveling and was a great cook. She loved cards, playing bingo and going to Mountaineer with her husband and children. Margie was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives and loved every minute she had with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her husband Frank, whom she married August 5, 1950; three daughters, Lynn (Jim) Berry and Sandy Kunzer all of Struthers, and Laurie (Dan) Socie of Poland; three sons, Frank Catanzarite Jr. of Henderson, NV, Joe (Casey) Catanzarite of Cleveland and Tim Catanzarite of CO; two brothers, Jerry (Amy) Kernan of Youngstown, and Jackie (Dora) Kernan of Weathersford, TX; one sister, Sister Eileen Kernan of the O.S.U. at St. Joan of Arc of Streetsboro; twenty precious grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her two dearest friends, Lucille Dew and Sally Hunt.
Besides her parents, Margie was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanie Catanzarite and Eileen Wright; two sisters, Maureen Lenhart and Patsy Ciccone; and two brothers, Thomas Kernan and Lt. Col. James Kernan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, with Fr. Kevin Peters officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Lowellville.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland, where a Prayer Service will be held Friday at 9:15 AM.
