Struthers- Margaret (Marge) Ann Planey, 86, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2015.
Marge was born in Lowellville, OH, November 29, 1928 a daughter of Matt and Veronica Morjock Gbur. She was raised in Lowellville and resided in Struthers most of her adult life.
She married Steve Planey on September 19, 1953. Steve passed away January 19, 2011. They were members of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church where Margaret was active in the Byzantine Ladies Association and fundraising for the Byzantine Catholic Central School where her children Susan and Stephen attended.
She was a homemaker for most of her life but did enjoy working part time at the Holiday Bowl for several years.
Besides her children, Susan (Barry) VanWye of Bonita Springs, FL and Steve (Janet) Planey of Canfield, she leaves two grandsons, SSgt Cory (Tara) VanWye, of Luke AFB, Phoenix AZ and Petty Officer Kyle (Candice) VanWye, USS Somerset, San Diego, CA. Her greatest joy in life were her two grandsons and their dog, Katie.
Margaret also leaves her brothers, Clem, Paul, and John Gbur. She also leaves her husband's sister, Anne Planey of Lowellville and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Matt, Martin, Chuck, George, and sisters, Verne, Dorothy, and Mary predeceased her.
Thanks to sister-in-law, Virginia, and brother, Paul, and niece Nora, for their help and support after Steve passed. Special thanks to son Steve and daughter-in-law Janet in her final year during her battle with lung cancer and its' ugly victory.
At Margaret's request, there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church on Wilson Ave., where family and friends may quietly gather one hour prior to the service.
