Margaret R. Ellis

Margaret R. Ellis, age 100, formerly of Youngstown, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Rockville, Maryland. She was born in Donora, Pa. on February 24, 1908, a daughter of Edmund and Rose Szabo Kollus. She moved to Youngstown at the age of 12. Mrs. Ellis, a graduate of the former South High School, worked for the Youngstown School System as a secretary at both South High and Sheridan Schools. She was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church. Her husband Andrew Ellis, whom she married November 27, 1930 died May 1, 1957. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Karl Kollus. She leaves a daughter, Louise Ellis of Rockville, Maryland, a niece, Rita Slovan of Tucson, Arizona a nephew, Thomas Kollus, of SunLakes, Arizona, and a sister in law Margaret Kollus of Tucson, Arizona. Calling hours will be private. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at 1 p.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery.
