Boardman - Margaret L. DePillo, 90, died early Monday morning, August 15, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Margaret was born December 28, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Susan Sich Bindas.
She was raised in Youngstown and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. She first worked as a waitress and then she worked at Strouss' Department Store in the curtain and drapery department, where she spent the majority of her career. Margaret also worked in the meat department at Rulli Bros. in Austintown and for Paragon Factory.
Mrs. DePillo was a longtime member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to its choir and Lydia Circle, serving as past president for many years. She was also recognized as "Woman of the Year" by the church.
Margaret enjoyed playing in the Shirley Road 500 Club, where she was a 60+ year member, going on bus trips to the casino, playing bingo and cards with her friends, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
Her husband, Joseph DePillo, whom she married October 31, 1942, preceded her in death on August 19, 2011. She is survived by three daughters, Georgette Kollay of Boardman, Kathleen Willig of North Lima, and Margaret Jo (Jim) Naples of Boardman; a sister, Betty DeArcangelis of Poland; four grandchildren, Kenny (Chrissy) Willig of Austintown, Kelly (Dave) Gorman of Canfield, Jimmy (Brandie) Naples III of Boardman, and Dominic Naples of Boardman; 13 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Anthony (Samantha), Marissa, Alexis, and Paul Willig, DJ, Brian, and Emily Gorman, Kendall (Brandon) Frohman, and Joey, Angelina, Christo, and Carter Naples; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. DePillo was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Babinchak, Susan Bindas, and Dorothy Badnarik; three brothers, Robert, Michael, and infant John Bindas; her son-in-law, Alex Kollay; and one great-granddaughter, Kourtney Elizabeth Naples.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Rd., with Pastor Kristin Stroble officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thank Dr. Robert Spratt and the staff of Shepherd of the Valley and Beeghly Oaks for the wonderful care they gave to Margaret.
