Coitsville - Margaret "Peg" Wick, 81, died suddenly Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center of respiratory distress.
Peg was born April 21, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of William and Isabelle Millard White.
Raised in Youngstown, Peg was a 1954 graduate of South High School and attended Youngstown College for 2 years. While in college she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
Peg worked as a coat check girl at Elms Ball Room and at Idora Park at numerous food stands, Kiddie Land, and in the late 50's and the 60's at it's famous Ball Room as a cashier. During that time she met many great names in entertainment such as Glenn Miller, Dean Martin, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, and many 60's bands.
It was at the Elms Ball Room that she met the love of her life, Edward Wick and they were married August 2, 1958. Together they built their home in Coitsville where they raised their three children and lived happily for over 48 years until Ed's death on April 6, 2006.
In the 1980's Peg was a volunteer and later a computer teacher for Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas Schools in Struthers. She truly loved having the opportunity to influence many lives of the students she taught. Peg was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles.
Peg leaves one daughter, Penny (Kenneth) Gretsinger of Streetsboro; two sons, Edward (Debbie) Wick Jr. of Columbiana and Thomas (Stacy) Wick of Hubbard; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Gretsinger, Jacob and Madison Wick, Elizabeth and Samantha McCullough, and James Wick.
In addition to her parents and husband, Peg was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert White; and one sister, Mary Jane Fulton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville, with Pastor David Conrad officiating. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
Friends will be received today from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
