Marietta- Margaret E. Berletchick, 90, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Struthers, died Sunday afternoon at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Margaret was born August 20, 1919 in Lowellville, a daughter of John and Mary Hurtuk Liptak. She was raised in Lowellville and moved to Struthers in 1955. In 2002, she moved to Marietta, Georgia to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
A 1937 graduate of Lowellville High School, Margaret worked as a shipper for Michigan Hanger Company for 15 years, retiring in 1981. She was also a licensed cosmetologist. During World War II, Margaret worked for the War Department in Washington D.C.
Margaret was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and playing bingo. She was a former member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and she attended Holy Family Church when staying with her daughter in Poland. In Woodstock, Georgia, she was a member of St. Michael the Arch Angel.
Her husband, Stephen P. Berletchick, whom she married April 27, 1946, died May 16, 1995. She leaves her son, Daniel (Nancy) Berletchick with whom she lived in Marietta, GA; her daughter, Barbara (Stanley) Zets-Guzell of Poland; two sisters, Dorothy Marik of Boardman and Betty Fisher of New Springfield; two grandsons, Brian (Kathy) Zets of New Albany, OH, and Christopher (Jane) Zets of Canfield; and two great-granddaughters, Madison and Taylor Zets of Canfield.
Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Sulak, Mary Rudick, Helen Jackson, and Veronica Krasinski; and two brothers, John and Michael Liptak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Poland with Msgr. William Connell officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
Friends will be received Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m.
