Margaret was born January 22, 1921, the daughter of Thomas and Belle Wanamaker Hughes and was a lifelong area resident.

At an early age, she became an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and remained so all her life.

She graduated from South High School in 1939. After graduation, she went to work at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. During World War II, she worked as an administrative assistant to the Supt. of Construction Engineering and worked there until the war ended.

Margaret was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, a past WHP of Ruth Shrine #64 in Poland, and a former member of Lamplight Chapter O.E.S. that was in Poland.

Over the years, she was a Sunday School teacher, a den mother of Cub Pack #54, and a member of P.T.A. at Jackson School and Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a very active member, along with her late husband, in Wilson Band Parents during her son's high school years.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, on January 4, 2002; her great grandparents, Henry and Margaret Hughes; paternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Hughes; maternal grandparents, Charles and Anna Wanamaker; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins for whom she had much love and respect all her life.

She is survived by her son, Bernie Belfrage, of Youngstown; and her brother, Jack (Margaret) Hughes of North Lima.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 1-1:45 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. A memorial service will follow on Friday at 2. p.m at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Burgeson officiating.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Margaret's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.

Bernie would like to express his appreciation and thank his cousins, Holly and Kevin Anthony, for all of their support and help with Margaret through her illness.
