Poland - Margaret Helen Battista, 95, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Assumption Village.

Mrs. Battista was born May 7, 1921 in Campbell, a daughter of Stephen and Julia Majors Varga.

She was a 1939 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Early in life she worked at Kress in Youngstown as an administrator before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Youngstown.

Her husband, William Battista, whom she married, Feb. 8, 1949, died April 29, 2012.

She is survived by one daughter, Sally Whitaker of Boardman; one son, Joseph (Elaine) Battista of Boardman; four grandchildren, John (April) Mentzer of Lowellville, Jim (Robyn) Mentzer of Struthers, Joelayne Glover of Muskegon, Michigan, and Steven Battista of Pittsburgh; and four great-grandchildren, Milo Glover, Reilly, Andrew, and Tabitha Mentzer.

Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Joseph, and William Varga; and one son-in-law, Curtis Whitaker.

Services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Sunday from 3-5PM and Monday from 10:00-10:45AM at the funeral home.
