Struthers - Marc H. Gillette, 81, died June 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, in his home.
Born December 1, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio, Marc was a son of Harry and Germaine Blanc Gillette, who immigrated to the United States from Clet, France. Marc was very proud of his heritage and spent many years delving into the details of his family tree through extensive genealogy research.
A graduate of Hubbard High School's Class of 1961, Marc went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. Following his military service and honorable discharge, he returned to the Mahoning Valley, where he made his home with his wife in Struthers.
Marc worked as a crane operator for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, later rising to the position of supervisor, before the mill's closing. Marc finished his career as a bus driver for the Boardman Local Schools, retiring after 23 years. He found great joy in driving Bus 48 and was affectionately known by the students as "Mr. G."
A man of strong faith, Marc was an active member of the former Word of Grace Church, where he taught Sunday School and shared his love for the Lord. Marc's life was guided by the scripture found in Philippians 4:6-7.
Marc was passionate about classic films and quite the historian of both American and world history. In his leisure time, he enjoyed antiquing and cheering for the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Beyond all else, Marc found immense joy in being surrounded by family.
