Poland - Madeline Tamburrino, 98, of Poland, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Hospice House. Mrs. Tamburrino was born June 19, 1910 in Roccaraso, Italy, the daughter of Frank and Elisena DiBittista Bucci. She came to the United States and to this area in 1920. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Woolworth's 5 & 10. After raising her children, she began working for Dr. Robert Katula in Poland and then LaFrance Dry Cleaners for several years. Mrs. Tamburrino was a charter member of Holy Family Church, where she belonged to its Altar and Rosary Guild, the Holy Family Senior Citizens, and was a lay distributor. She also volunteered at the church's school cafeteria, worked the church's fish fry, and made kolachi. Mrs. Tamburrino was a member of the Knights of Columbus KC-Etts No. 4471 in Poland, the St. Nicholas Senior Citizens, and she belonged to various card clubs. Her husband, Nunziato Tamburrino, whom she married July 1, 1926, died March 17, 1987. She leaves two daughters, Mary Alice (Richard) Matis and Irene (Rocco) Marchese, both of Poland; a son, Paul (Annette) Tamburrino of Sandusky; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Bucci of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Al Bucci; and her grandson, Tommy Matis. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham Becker Funeral, Poland and Holy Family Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
