Struthers - Louise Eleanor Wagner, 97 , died Friday afternoon, May 10, 2013, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Louise was born September 9, 1915 in Calla, OH, a daughter of Clyde and Lizzie Arner Johnston. She was raised in Boardman and lived
most of her adult life in Struthers.
A 1933 graduate of Boardman High School, Louise was a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers.
Louise's gift to her family and to others was her talent with embroidery, weaving, and bobbin lace. She was co-founder of Heritage Lace Guild; was a life-time member of Youngstown Area Weavers Guild, and a former member of the Youngstown Chapter of Embroidery Guild of America. Louise published numerous international articles, and was honored to have her work, a lace Christmas Tree, displayed at the Smithsonian Institute of American Crafts. In her free time she taught crafts, embroidering, weaving and bobbin lace in the area. Louise also enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking.
Her husband, Paul Edward Wagner, whom she married March 4, 1935, died October 17, 1988.
Louise is survived by four daughters, Joan L. (John) Ciliberto of Poland, Patricia A. (Donald) Archer of Lakewood, CO, and Virginia J. (Gerald) Kordelski of Elyria, and Elaine M.(Frank) Walizer of Laurel, MD; two sons, Paul E. (Jerilynn) Wagner of Sebastapol, CA and Timothy J. Wagner of Paso Robles, CA; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth VanDyke, Mildred Boyer, and Thelma Wigal; and one infant grandson.
A payer service will be held Friday at 10:30AM at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, followed by Mass of Christian Burial ay 11:00AM at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas. Interment will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
