Lowellville- Louise Ellen Schiffhauer, 88, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown.
Mrs. Schiffhauer was born February 23, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Kenneth and Harriet (Barker) Hunt.
A graduate of Carrick High School, Mrs. Schiffhauer worked as a bookkeeper for Lowellville Savings and Banking/Western Reserve Bank.
She was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Lowellville, where she served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. In later years, she was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church and also sang in its choir. Mrs. Schiffhauer was very active in her children's lives and was a member and former president of the Lowellville PTA and its summer recreation program and was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. In her spare time, she loved crocheting, and as a RSVP volunteer with the Volunteer Services Agency donated much of her work to charitable organizations.
Her husband, Charles "Bud" Schiffhauer, whom she married August 1, 1942, died March 20, 2004. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (Keith) Gustafson of Amelia Island, FL and Patricia (Ted) Olson of Lowellville; two sons, Charles (Debbie) Schiffhauer Jr. of Ellsworth and Bruce (Tracy Tiberio) Schiffhauer of Olmsted Falls; three grandchildren, Christopher (Sharon) Schiffhauer of North Scottsdale, AZ, Rebecca (Thomas Wolfgang) Olson of Lowellville, and Jenna Schiffhauer of Olmsted Falls; four great-grandchildren, Charles Schiffhauer and Hailey, Kalista, and Jeremy Wolfgang; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Liebtag; and two brothers, Kenneth and Millard Hunt.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bradley Pace officiating. Interment will follow at Lowellville Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thank the staff of Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, Dr. Michael Evan, and Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care they gave to Louise.
