Poland- Lois Naomi Smith, 88, of Poland, died June 15, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.
Mrs. Smith was born March 2, 1921 in Struthers, a daughter of Charles and Leota McClain Jackson.
She attended Struthers High School. Mrs. Smith previously worked for Stambaugh's, Strouss, and she retired from GTE Automatic Electric as a bookkeeper with over 15 years of service. During World War II, she also worked at General Fireproofing building warplanes.
She was a member of Poland United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women's Society. She was also a member of the Circle 8 Dance Club. Mrs. Smith enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
Her husband of 67 years, Donald F. Smith, whom she married December 30, 1939, died January 6, 2006. She leaves her son, Gregory Smith of Poland; and two grandchildren, Brittany and Christopher Smith, both of Columbus.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. Jackson and her sister, Ruth Elizabeth Jackson.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
