Lois Rae Davison, 86, died Saturday evening, April 6, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Davison was born November 7, 1926 in Dickerson Run, PA, a daughter of Walter T. Stoeber, Sr. and Meredith (Robertson) Stoeber.
She was a June 1944 graduate of Struthers High School and a 1947 graduate of Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in the newborn nursery at Northside Hospital, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Retired Nurses Association, Junior Progressive Art Club, Boardman Bears Club, as well as several bowling and golf leagues in her earlier years. Mrs. Davison enjoyed hosting family holidays, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and Youngstown University Penguins with her family, and playing cards with the Friday night "Therapy Group".
Her husband, Vern W. Davison, whom she married June 10, 1949, died July 19, 2009. She is survived by her son, Tedd (Gail) Davison of Greenwood, SC; a daughter, Jill (Bill) Downie of Youngstown; brother, Don (June) Stoeber of Struthers; sister, Shirley (Jim) Bradick of Youngstown; eight grandchildren, Mandy (Jay) Crouch of Clemmons, SC, Melissa (Brad) Walker of Canfield, Mike (Temple) Simpson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Sara (Nick) Rodland of Poland, Dale Downie of Columbus, Katie (Gebil) Grebremedhin of Brooklyn, NY, Beth Downie of Austintown, and Grace (Jon) Geiger of Columbus; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nora, and Kimi Crouch, Paul, Drew, and Jake Walker, Eyoab Grebremedhin, Lyndi Claire Rodland, and Addyson Simpson.
The Davison's also wish to recognize extended family, Linda Weaver of Poland, for all of her love and support.
In addition to her father and husband, Mrs. Davison was preceded in death by her stepmother, Estelle (Graham) Stoeber. A brother, Walter T. Stoeber, Jr., who was declared MIA in 1951 during the Korean conflict.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, Ohio 44514 with Rev. Kristin Stroble, officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
