Lois Jane Davidson Glasgow

July 20, 1928 — June 9, 2018

Youngstown- Lois Jane Davidson Glasgow, passed away early on the morning of June 9, 2018.  She was 89.

Lois was born July 20, 1928 on the South Side of Youngstown, Ohio to John Alderson Davidson and Marguerite Mariner Davidson.

Lois attended South High School, Muskingum College and Youngstown State University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree and worked towards her Masters in Education.  She taught math and science at Market Street Elementary and Jackson Milton Schools, and tutored children with learning and behavior disorders in the Boardman school system, retiring in the 1980s.

She married Richard Tice in 1955, and they divorced in 1960.  She met George Richard “Dick” Glasgow at Pleasant Grove Church and they were married on December 17, 1960.  They later attended Christ Church United Presbyterian where they were members of the church’s Couples Club.

Lois was passionate about family history and was a long-time member of the Mahoning County Genealogy Society, where she served as Secretary and Publications Chair.  She was also a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society, and was proud to have been accepted into the First Families of Ohio and Descendants of Civil War Veterans lineage societies.  She traveled to Scotland to pursue her family history, and was able to visit Tulloch Castle, seat of Clan Davidson in Dingwall, Scotland.  She was a member of the Alderson Family History Society of England, Clan Davidson Society of the United States and the Clan Davidson Society of Scotland.

Lois and Dick took their children on two long adventures through the national parks during the summers of 1969 and 1974, instilling in them her father’s love of the American West.  Lois was a long-time member of the Sierra Club, World Wildlife Federation and numerous animal welfare organizations.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life her daughter Elizabeth Anne Glasgow of Youngstown, son Richard Davidson (Alisha Adelle Winters) Glasgow of Mercer, PA, step-daughter Laurie Glasgow (Joseph Richard) Taylor of Youngstown, and many beloved nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, her brother John Mariner Davidson, sister Vesta Louise “Vickie” Davidson Benker and recently deceased sister Marian Cora Davidson Deemer.

Lois will be laid to rest beside her husband at Lake Park Cemetery.  Calling hours will be at the Boardman chapel of Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th.

Memorial contributions should be made to the Ohio Genealogical Society and the Sierra Club.
