Lowellville - Loeta M Altiero, 85 of West Wood Street, Lowellville, died, Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown with her daughters at her side.
Mrs. Altiero was born January 15, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Walter and Ella Gorley Markstrom, and was a life long area resident.
She was a 1942 graduate of Canfield High School, and a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, where she was past member of its guild. She was also a past member of the Lowellville and Coitsville Senior Citizens, past secretary of the Lowellville Fire Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Altiero worked for many years as a hairdresser, she was an avid reader, and loved all kinds of music.
Her husband, Raymond Altiero whom she married May 20, 1944, died July 10, 2002.
She leaves four daughters, Marsha Altiero, Darlene Altiero, Kathryn Altiero, and Cheryl Sandora all of Lowellville, and one granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Sandora.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Wilfred Markstrom.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:30 am, at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church with Rev. G. David Weikart officiating. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville, where prayer services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 am.
The Altiero family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Caprice Health Care Center, and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, for all of there care given to our mother.
