Youngstown - Liz Wrona, 72, died early Friday morning, March 16, 2018 in the comfort of her home.
Liz was born September 21, 1945 in England, a daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Wilkins) Rennie.
Raised in England, she was a graduate of Essex County High School. While in high school, she had the opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student in France and Germany. She received her Associate's degree in French from Lycee University in London and spoke German and French fluently.
While working as a legal secretary in France, Liz met her future husband, Thomas J. Wrona, while he was serving in the United States Army. They were wed on August 2, 1967 in London and returned to Youngstown the next year. Liz worked as a legal secretary for eight years for Manchester, Bennett, Powers, & Ulllman, in Youngstown, before becoming a dedicated homemaker.
Liz was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, where she served as Vestry Senior Warden, reader, and chalice bearer. She was also a member of the Search Committee, Book Club, headed the Christian Social Relations Committee, and made home visits to fellow church members who weren't able to attend.
Liz loved to give back to her community by supporting and volunteering for many local organizations, some of which included the Rescue Mission, Protestant Family Services, and the Beatitude House. Her generous ways and helping hands will always be remembered. She will forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Liz enjoyed walking in the Poland Woods with her husband, bird watching, and taking road trips alongside Tom to numerous places in the states and Canada. She was also a voracious reader and loved animals.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Dorothy (Bruce) Wrona-Weckman of Tampa, FL; and three nieces, Michelle (Bill) Fox of Youngstown, Denise Wrona of Youngstown, and Tracey Willmitch of Youngstown.
In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ed Wrona.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Gayle Catinella officiating. Fellowship and refreshments will follow the service in the church's Great Hall.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thank Hospice of the Valley and the congregation of St. John's Episcopal Church for their wonderful support and love they showed Liz and her family through her illness.
Although flowers are beautiful, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512 or St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
