Lisa Currao

June 10, 1968 — December 23, 2015

Glendale - Lisa Currao, 47, formerly of Boardman, died December 23, 2015 in the Hospice of the Valley Hospice House. She was born June 10, 1968 in Youngstown, and was a 1986 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.

Lisa went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development from Youngstown State University. She was employed in Special Education with Hilltop Elementary School in the Canfield School District but had been working at Boulder Creek Elementary since moving to Arizona. She grew up in St. Matthias Church but more recently was a member of St. Thomas Moore in Glendale, AZ. She enjoyed hiking and hiked two mountains in Arizona, Pinnacle Peak and Camel Back Mountain. She loved spending time with an enormous group of family and friends in both Ohio and Arizona. She was very devoted to her faith and religion and her dogs, Mason and Riggins who both recently passed.

Lisa leaves her husband, Joseph Currao, whom she married on June 17, 2006; her father, John E. (Ann) Ferenchak; two sisters, Arlene (Brian) Lowry of White Marsh, MD and Karen (Kevin) Vrabel of Canfield; her mother-in-law, Mary Currao of Struthers, whom she resided with the final weeks of her illness; brother-in-law, Domenic (Diana) Currao of Austintown; and sister-in-law, Rose Ann (Robert) Titi of Canfield; nieces, Shannon Lowry, Briana Lowry, Sarah Vrabel, Lisa Currao, Alyssa Titi and Julianna Titi; nephews, Justen Vrabel, Jarret Vrabel and Michael Currao.

Lisa was preceded in death by her mother, Michaelena Ferenchak; grandparents, Edward and Bertha Grisdale and John and Dorothy Ferenchak; and her father-in-law, Tony Currao.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 28, at 1pm at Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Bonnot as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received prior to mass on Monday from 11am-12:45pm at the church.

The Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers is handling arrangements.

The family would like to thank her wonderful team of physicians at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Medical Hospital in Phoenix and also the staff at Hospice of the Valley.
