East Palestine

East Palestine - Linda S. Bunetta, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 29, 2024, at her brother's home surrounded by her family.  

Linda was born November 7, 1951 in Salem, OH, a daughter of the late William Smiley and Eleanor Beight.  

She graduated from East Palestine High School in 1970 and Kent State University with a Bachelor's degree in education.  Linda was a teacher for several years before returning to school and graduating from St. Elizabeth School of nursing as an LPN. 

She lived in Salem, Negley, and Youngstown before moving to East Palestine.  

Linda was an active member of First Church of Christ in East Palestine and was a member of the quilting ministry.  She was an avid reader and was a member of the East Palestine Library Book Club. 

Linda and her husband, Steve, loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas visiting the different casinos. They went often to experience the awe and excitement of Las Vegas and always had a great time.     

Linda was an avid wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.   Linda was devoted to her grandchildren, taking them on "adventure trips," when they were young, as well as attending their school and sporting activities.

Linda is survived by five stepchildren, Denise (Chuck) Pregibon of Campbell, OH, Steve (Renee) Bunetta of Cortland, NY, Michael (Debi) Bunetta of Cleveland, TN, Laura Best of Boardman, OH, and Jeffrey Bunetta of Cleveland, TN; six grandchildren, Charles (Tracy) Pregibon, Robert Pregibon, Zachary Bunetta, Steven Bunetta, Arthur Bunetta and Eileen Bunetta; two sisters, Mary Lou Smiley and Sally Jo Smiley both of Morganton, NC; and her brother, William A. (Sharon) Smiley of East Palestine, OH. 

Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Steve A. Bunetta, whom she married on October 26, 1983 and died on March 19, 2013; a stepdaughter, Diana Bunetta; and son-in-law, Jim Best. 

Per Linda's request, there will be a private memorial service celebrating Linda's life at  a later date. There are no calling hours.  

Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman.
