Poland - Leslie Ann Kiske, 78, died Thursday afternoon, November 6, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Kiske was born May 7, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Miller Ashoff.
A graduate of Boardman High School, Mrs. Kiske received her bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University and her master's degree in education from Youngstown State University. She taught science for Boardman Middle School, then worked for Choffin Career and Technical Center preparing students to take their GED test, and retired as a salesperson from Fireline. She was also the co-founder of The Youngstown English Center, which helps teach immigrants the English language.
An active member of the community, Mrs. Kiske was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland, the Ohio Teacher's Association, the Poland Village Club, and the Youngstown Junior League, serving as a past president. Mrs. Kiske was also very involved in the organization, Children's International Summer Villages over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and playing tennis.
She is survived by her son, John Kiske of Poland; daughter, Julie Morgan of Milwaukee, WI; and six grandchildren, Elliot, Kiernan, and Lily Kiske, Rhea Martin, and Lana and Rory Morgan.
A prayer service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial gifts be made in Mrs. Kiske's name to the Youngstown English Center, 1119 Elm St., Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
