LeRoy Curtis Wells

Poland - LeRoy Curtis Wells, 92, of Poland, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Wells was born March 19, 1916 in Reynoldsville, PA, a son of Carlisle and Agnes Haggerty Wells. He worked as an engineer for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1979. He co-founded the Poland Polo Club in 1936 and played and refereed for polo teams in Darlington, Pa and the Mahoning Valley. His wife, the former Ethel "Betty" Boyer, whom he married December 21, 1939, died January 8, 1984. He leaves his two daughters, Cynthia Wells of Poland and Betty Wells of Fairview, Pa; a niece, Sandra (William) Greathouse of Poland; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Davis; and his brother, Russell Wells. There will be no calling hours or services.
