Leonard A. Camperelli, 74
Struthers - Leonard A. Camperelli, 74, passed away Saturday evening, August 20, 2022 at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Leonard was born July 4, 1948 in New Castle, PA, the son of the late James and Julia (Frank) Camperelli.
He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1966 and attended Youngstown State University.
Leonard served in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.
Following the war, Leonard returned to the Youngstown area and worked for Schwebel's Baking Company for 34 years, retiring as a supervisor and safety coordinator.
Leonard took pleasure in maintaining his cars, especially his yellow Pontiac Solstice convertible. He enjoyed meeting every Tuesday at The Mocha House in Boardman with other retirees for coffee. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Leonard is survived by two daughters, Barb (Dave) Shacklock of Lowellville, OH, and Janet (Jim) Bartell of Austintown, OH; a son, David Kanna of Austintown, OH; a brother, James (Gwen) Camperelli of Baton Rouge, LA ; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and three dear friends, Karly, Larry, and Terry.
Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife the former Patricia J. Kaminsky, who died on January 21, 2006; a granddaughter, Kristy Taaffe; a great-granddaughter, Angel Maker; and a infant sister.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers. There will be a funeral service celebrating Leonard 's life at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Yargo officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown with full military honors by the Army and the Ellsworth V.F.W. Post 9571.
