Rockwood - Leon J Manos, 94, of Rockwood, Tennessee, formerly of Walker Court, Poland died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Renaissance Terrace Care and Rehabilitation Center in Harriman, Tennessee.For the past year, he and had been residing with his daughter and son-in-law in Tennessee.
Mr. Manos was born February 28, 1915 in Youngstown, a son of John and Ethel McCurdy Manos.
He was a 1933 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and a member of the Poland United Methodist Church. Mr. Manos worked as a Stationary Engineer for Ohio Edison for 40 years, retiring in 1976. He was an avid golfer who especially liked playing at Mill Creek Park. Mr. Manos was "Mr. Fit-it" in his neighborhood. If he couldn't fix it, no one could. Mr. Manos also enjoyed woodworking and doing crossword puzzles with his beloved wife.
His wife, the former Margaret F. Healey, whom he married in November 16, 1947, died June 17, 2005.
Mr. Manos is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Jeff) Kreil of Rockwood, TN and Linda (Jim) Schuricht of Estes Park, CO; one son, Dale (Sue Ann) Manos of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren Jennifer (Dan) LaCoe,Ft. Lupton, CO, and Marc (Erin) Schuricht,Denver, Colorado.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 Thursday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am. Friends will also be received Friday from 10:00 - 10:45 am. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
