Struthers - Lawrence V. Leardi, 89, died early Friday morning, March 9, 2012 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Leardi was born May 5, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Vito and Bellonia (Rozzi) Leardi.
He was a graduate of Lowellville High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy during World War II until being honorably discharged. He first worked for Sharon Steel and Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He worked for many years for the Struthers School System and retired as a custodian.
He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching all sports, bowling, golfing, and he also loved gardening.
He leaves his wife, the former Antonette Delsander, whom he married September 14, 1946; daughter, Jean (Frank) DiPiero of Ocala, FL; and sister, Irma Carchedi of Lowellville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence M. Leardi; granddaughter, Christine DiPiero; four sisters, his twin Novella Mamula, Theresa Argenziano, Ann Selner, and Carrie Reitano; and two brothers, Nick and Louis Leardi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard Bonnot officiating.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
