Lawrence "Larry" C. Rust

New Springfield - Lawrence C. Rust, 70, of New Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 6, 2024, at his home.

Lawrence know by his family and friends as "Larry," was born June 18, 1953 in Grove City, PA, a son of the late Clair M. Rust and Delores M. (Hoffman) Rust.

He graduated from Grove City High School and later moved to the Mahoning Valley and attended Youngstown State University.

Larry was an auto body repairman his entire life. He enjoyed repairing damaged vehicles and restoring them back to their original state. Larry started working for Country Auto Body in New Middletown, and later for several other auto body shops in the Tri County area, Stackhouse Olds and Donnell Ford, both in Youngstown, and Dynamic Autobody in Salem. He also worked for Allied Erecting & Dismantling Company in Youngstown for several years before retiring. Larry did not stay retired for long before he started working for Mill Creek Metro Parks in Youngstown, in the lawn maintenance department for 5 years, before officially retiring.

Larry was a member of New Springfield Church of God and a member of the Mahoning Sportsman's Association. In his free time, Larry enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling, Steelers football, tinkering in the garage, his animals, and grandkids sports.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by two sons, Lawrence J. (Sarah) Rust of Sidney, OH and Landen E. Rust of Poland, OH; five grandchildren, Claire Rust, Alexis Rust, Elliana Rust, Lara Rust, and Koltin Rust; four sisters, Sandy (Darrell) Grim of Hermitage, PA, Darlene Rocco of Harrisville, PA, Carol Rust of Hermitage, PA, and Vicki (Bill) Hollobaugh of Cochraton, PA; his former wife, Linda Rust of New Springfield, OH; and his former in-laws, Harry "Pops" (Kate) Taylor of New Middletown, OH.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road in New Springfield.

Arrangements are being handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers.
