Boardman - Lawrence W. Green, 86, passed away on December 2, 2024 with his wife by his side.
He was born July 6, 1938 in Cleveland, a son of the late Vernon and Sylvia (Phillips) Green. He was a 1956 graduate of Boardman High School and worked as a driver for Acme Trucking Company.
He was a proud and active member of the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club, serving as a Trustee and sharing his passion for classic automobiles with the community. A kind, humble, and thoughtful man, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Above all, he was a devoted husband of 56 incredible years, a partnership marked by teamwork and deep mutual respect. Together with his wife, they were a powerful force as parents and grandparents, providing unwavering support and love to their family.
A skilled craftsman, he was known for being good with his hands and able to fix just about anything. His garage was his sanctuary, a place where he could tinker, create, and restore. He took great pride in his 1966 Fairlane convertible, a car that symbolized his passion for precision and beauty. He rarely sat still, always eager to get back to his garage and continue working on his latest project.
As the patriarch and guiding light of his family, he was the "go-to" person for advice, help, or simply a reassuring presence. He was deeply involved in the lives of his family, always there for them with love and support. His energy, grace, and dedication to his family and passions made him a truly great human being whose impact will be felt for generations.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, the former Janice Will, whom he married May 25, 1968; his children, Jodi (Brett) Zockle of Draper, UT, Jason (Tonya) Green of Kingsville, and Jamie Green of Lakeland, FL; his grandchildren, Jay, Tavia, Luca, Barb, Matt, and Joshua; two step-grandchildren, Courtney and Gage; his brother, Cliff (Jodie) Green of Alton, IL; his sister-in-law, Margaret Sigle; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; especially his niece, Mindy and nephew Brad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karry Deschner.
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed immediately by a short prayer service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Because Larry was most comfortable in his jeans and favorite car-themed shirt, the family requests that you honor him by coming in your own casual attire, including jeans and, if you have one, a favorite car/car club shirt.
