Lawrence F. DeStefano, Jr.

Poland - Lawrence F. DeStefano, Jr., 76, passed away on July 13, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. 

Lawrence, affectionately known as "Larry," was born May 15, 1948 in New Castle, PA, a son of Lawrence F. DeStefano, Sr. and Nora Blews DeStefano.

Larry was a graduate of New Castle High School, Class of 1966, and then proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. Larry dedicated many years of his life working for the railroad, ultimately retiring from Norfolk Southern as a conductor. In his leisure time, he found joy in golfing and was a member of a league for many years. 

Larry will be lovingly remembered as a kind man with a gentle spirit. 

Larry is survived by his wife, the former Karen L. Gassner, whom he married February 5, 2010; son, Patrick DeStefano of Austintown; sister, Barb (Terry) Grossetti of New Castle; sister-in-law, Laona DeStefano of Florida; stepson, Jason (Stephanie) Jones of Meadville, PA; and three step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald DeStefano.

Per Larry's request, there will be no calling hours or service.
