Laverne Lola Butch, 89
LOWELLVILLE - Laverne Lola Butch, 89, died March 22, 2012, at Park Vista Retirement Center.
Laverne was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Cleveland, a daughter of William and Irene Besch Mott.
She graduated from Cleveland West High School and went on to receive her degree from Youngstown State University.
Mrs. Butch was a teacher for Youngstown City Schools for 27 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church, where she was in the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of Mahoning County Retired Teachers and the Lowellville American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary.
Laverne was a veteran of U.S. Marines during World War II.
She is survived by two daughters, Candace Dixon of Boardman and Laurie Ann Butch of Boardman; a grandson, John Conor (Jennifer) Dixon of Boulder, Colo.; a great-grandson, Braeden Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Guy V. Butch; a sister, Faye Glassco; and a brother, Theodore Mott.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church.
Friends will be received from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.
