Lowellville - Laura L. Rishel, 78, died Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House.
Mrs. Rishel was born January 24, 1937 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Warner and Etta McClain Double.
Raised in New Castle, she was a graduate of Union High School. Upon her marriage, Laura became a dedicated homemaker, and moved to Lowellville in 1963.
For many years, Laura found much joy in teaching ceramic classes out of her home. In her earlier years, Laura enjoyed going camping and water sports with her family. Laura's other hobbies included, gardening of both flowers and vegetables, taking care of her many cats throughout the years, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert C. Rishel, whom she married October 2, 1954, preceded her in death on August 16, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Martin) Shevetz of Lowellville; a son, Robert B. (Jennifer) Rishel of Winter Haven, FL; four grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Finch, Lauren (John) Phillis, Robert J. "RJ" Rishel, and Patrick Rishel; and five great-grandchildren, Addison and Devon Finch, and Lacey, Nathan, and Jocelyn Phillis.
In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by her three brothers, William, Daniel, and Ernest Double.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
