Services will be held today, at 5:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home for Laura J. Price, 85, who passed away Thursday afternoon at Briarfield at Ashley Circle.
Mrs. Price was born Sept. 16, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of Charles and Anna (Ogilvie) Semple. Her mother was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Laura was a 1945 graduate of South School and had worked for Commercial Shearing, Inc. and Commercial Stamping & Forging, Inc. for 30 years in the Cost Department.
Laura's mother died when Laura was 12. Paula (Grope) Allen's grandmother, Ethel Carroll, invited Laura to have Christmas dinner with their family, and later lived with the Grope family for ten years. For 73 years, Laura celebrated holidays and family gatherings.
Laura was very sociable and outgoing. She enjoyed traveling the state and country with her husband and going to Packard Music Hall to attend the musical plays. Decorating her home and caring for her flame-point Himalayan cat, "Sir Robert" gave her great joy.
Her husband, Robert Barcley Price whom she married at Christ Church Presbyterian on Feb. 14, 1957 died Dec. 28, 1993.. She continued to be involved with the church. He served in the US Army in the South Pacific in New Guinea.
Surviving her are a nephew, Lawrence McClure of Columbia, SC and a cousin, Lucille Leonhart of Canfield.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are a brother Paul Semple and a sister Ruth McClure.
