Youngstown - Laura A . Jones, 93, died early Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center .
Laura was born July 27, 1918 in Youngstown, a daughter of Charles P. and Emma Goltz Boyd. She was a life long area resident
and graduated from South High School in 1936.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and also worked at the Walmart in Boardman as a greeter and Ohio Bell. She was an active member of Faith Community Covenant Church. Laura also was a member of the Red Hat Society, Brownlee Woods Seniors; and enjoyed bowling, sewing , quilting, crafts, and baking..
Laura is survived by three daughters, Diane Rice of Richmond, VA , Bonnie Chismar of Paragould, Arkansas, and Billie Sue Jones of Garrettsville, OH ; five grandchildren, Robin Chismar of Warren, Jason Chismar of Youngstown, Jessica Sargent, Jennifer McCauley, and Julia Bardrof, all of Virginia; four great-grandchildren, whom affectionately called her LaLa. Emily Thomas, Jaylin Chismar, Nathan McCauley, and Logan William Roy Chismar(LaLa's little Billy); a foster daughter, Marcia (George) Bistarkey and their children Michele and Kerry, as well as their children, Lindsey, Bryce and Cade; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and family.
Besides her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband , William R. Jones Jr, whom she married May 3, 1941, died in 1996; a son, Baby Charles; a brother, Charles Boyd; and a sister, Ruth Yauman
Services will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Faith Community Covenant Church in Youngstown.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00-8:00PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers and Friday from 10:00-10:45AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the Love Pantry at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44502.
