Struthers - Kristy Lynn Taaffe, 38, of Struthers, died suddenly, Sunday afternoon, July 3, 2016 at her residence.
Kristy was born June 20, 1978 in Youngstown, a daughter of Raymond Wolfe and Janet Kanna Bartell.
Kristy leaves to cherish her memories, her parents and their spouses, Ray and Karen Wolfe of Lowellville and Janet and James Bartell of Youngstown; her loving husband, James "Jimmy" Taaffe, whom she married July 20, 2002; her two daughters and the apples of her eye, Mickey and Gigi; brothers and sisters, Stephen (Jessica) Wolfe of Youngstown, Kelly (Anthony) Procaccini of Marshall, VA, Joshua (LeAnne) Bartell of Topsail, NC, Matthew Wolfe of Boardman, Justin (Cara) Bartell of Canfield, Tyler Bartell of Youngstown, Falyn Jackson of Poland, and Abbey (Dan) Fishtorn of North Jackson; father-in-law, Richard (Joan McCullough) Taaffe of Austintown; and mother-in-law, Tonya Stanfar of Middleburg Hts, OH.
A life long resident of Struthers, Kristy was a 1996 graduate of Struthers High School where she was a cheerleader and SHS Singer. She attended YSU where she decided to pursue her love of cheerleading by trying out for theYSU cheerleading squad. In 1997 the Penguins won the 1-AA Championship and Kristy and her fellow squad members were privileged to be the first cheerleading squad to ever travel by air with the Penguins football team. Besides cheerleading, Kristy also loved running and ran numerous marathons including Baltimore and Pittsburgh. On Monday, Kristy was registered to run in the first Struthers 4th of July 5K race, "Run the Route." In her honor, her daughters and her mother ran the race in her memory.
Kristy's husband Jimmy is a photographer, and in time, Kristy developed an interest in photography and with Jimmy's training she became a natural. Together in 2007, they opened their own photography studio, Limelight Images Photography.
Her greatest love in life was being a wife and mother. Her pride and joy were her daughters and she was their #1 cheerleader. She fully supported her girl's interest in baseball, gymnastics, and ballet. For gymnastic meets and dance recitals, Kristy was the go-to mom when it came to getting everyone's hair done. She was also active in the Struthers PTA.
With her heart of gold, Kristy would give her shirt off her back for those in need. She would donate her talent in taking pictures for those less fortunate, and was always rooting for the underdog.
Kristy wanted peace among people, and she will be forever remembered for her energy, kindness and uplifting spirit. she gave the gift of life to others by her donation to Life Banc.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Friday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
