Youngstown - Kevin Joseph Slanina, 32, of Youngstown, died October 16, 2010.
Kevin was born January 13, 1978 in Youngstown, a son of John and Jane Lockiec Slanina.
He was a 1996 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and received his CDL from TDDS Technical Institute. Kevin worked as a truck driver for Martin's Trucking in Bessemer.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.
An outdoorsman, Kevin was a devoted fisherman and loved being on the lake. He was an avid bowler and never missed his Saturday Night League. Although Kevin didn't get the chance to have his own children, he loved his nephews more than anything, as they loved him. Kevin had the biggest heart of anyone and it went along with his smile. Even though Kevin was 6'2", he will always be the baby of the family. Everyone who knew Kevin loved him and will never be the same for losing him.
In addition to his parents of Youngstown, Kevin leaves his brother, John (Laura) Slanina of Struthers; sister, Sherri Wittman of Boardman; maternal grandmother, Mildred Mistovich Labuda of Struthers; nephews, Steven John, Joseph Kevin, and Drew Gary Slanina of Struthers, and David William, Aidan Joseph, and Brennan Michael Wittman of Boardman; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins he was especially close to.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Edward Lockiec and Joseph Labuda and paternal grandparents, John R. and Loretta Slanina.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.
