YOUNGSTOWN- Kevin Scott Kelly passed away at the age of 67 on December 7, 2024 at home with his family by his side.
He was born December 9, 1956 in Salem, Ohio, to Robert and Ethel (Hazen) Kelly. After graduating from South Range High School in 1975, Kevin joined the Air Force. While serving in Omaha, Nebraska, he met and married his wife, Tamera (Tammy) Kay Kelly, and together they built a beautiful life with their two children.
After returning to the area, Kevin worked for several years as a wire EDM operator. He was last employed with Vinyl Tool & Die Co. in Youngstown. For several years, when able, he enjoyed volunteering in many capacities at Angels for Animals.
Kevin preferred the simple life where family was the most important thing, and every family gathering was a must-attend event. Whether you were a relative, friend, or neighbor, he always showed kindness and love and would be willing to help in any way he possibly could. Some of the things he most enjoyed were playing his favorite music on the radio, spending time at the lake, camping, and riding the open roads on his Harley. His last and most treasured long motorcycle trip was with his dad, and he loved to talk about it. Kevin’s most recent favorite pastime outside of the house was spending time at Mill Creek Park. He also enjoyed retrieving gas prices; because of his competitive nature, one of his proudest achievements was ranking #1 on the Gas Buddy app. On his indoor days, he used his time to do “amazing things” such as creating programming scripts and assisting as administrator for a crypto currency platform while eating his favorite snacks.
Above everything, his most beloved role was being the best Papa. Whether it involved going to the park, building Legos, making the best butter toast, eating ice cream any time of the day, or just being present, he always, until the end, showed such stoicism and love to his grandchildren. They were the most cherished part of his life.
In addition to his parents who survive and live in Greenford, he leaves behind his son, Robert (Crystal Crites) Kelly of Girard; daughter, Lynn (Justin) Coburn of North Lima; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Austin Kelly, Kaden Coburn, and Bryce Joyce; brother, Marvin (Sue) Kelly of Canfield; sister, Cindi (Ed) Madej of Boardman; as well an entire family, including several nieces and nephews, who will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tammy, in 2018.
Friends may visit on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed immediately by a memorial celebration of life beginning at 5:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ralph Edwards. Military honors will then be rendered in honor of Kevin’s service to our country.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Rd., Canfield, Ohio 44406 or to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, in his memory.
