Kenneth W. Matteson

Boardman - Kenneth W. Matteson, 90, of Boardman, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Inn at Poland Way. 

Born November 9, 1933, in Youngstown, he was a son of the late Kenneth V. and Jessie June (Schenck) Matteson. 

Ken was a graduate of South High School. He attended Youngstown State University where he obtained his Bachelors Degree. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. On March 28, 1958, Ken married the love of his life, the former Margaret Daichendt and together shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. Their lives were blessed with their daughters and later their grandchildren, great- grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

 Ken worked for Commercial Intertech as an office manager for over 30 years until his retirement in 1996. Ken was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church where he and Margaret met many of their close friends. He was an active member of the Aut Mori Grotto, the Scottish Rite, Western Star Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Lions Club, the Chatter Box Lunch Club, and spent countless number of hours volunteering with the American Red Cross for 10 years. 

Ken enjoyed his time traveling the country and going on many cruises with his wife. He always took the opportunity to indulge in a freshly baked fruit pie and loved being around animals. A family man at heart, Ken's gentle and beautiful soul will be cherished by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

 He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Margaret; four daughters, Darlene (Gary) Fay, of Melbourne, FL , Charlene (Joe) Matacic, of Girard, Kimberly (Tom) Caputo, of Boardman, and Sharon (Nicholas) Jordan, of Boardman; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

 Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, OH 44514 where a funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with military honors to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ken's name to the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
