Canfield - Dr. Kenneth M. Lloyd MD, 82, of Canfield, died November 4, 2016 at his residence. Dr. Lloyd was born February 4, 1934 in Youngstown, son of the late Kenneth and Thelma Peck Lloyd.
Dr. Lloyd, a graduate of Boardman High School class of 1951, attended college and medical school at the University of Michigan and received his medical degree in 1959. He completed his Fellowship in Dermatology at Duke University in 1964 after Internal Medicine residencies at Youngstown Hospital Association and Henry Ford Hospital.
Dr. Lloyd opened his Boardman dermatology practice in 1964. In 1966, he entered the US Navy as a Lt. Commander and served as the Chief of Dermatology at the US Naval Hospital in Chelsea, MA. He returned to private practice in 1968.
Dr. Lloyd held academic positions as Chief of Dermatology at North Side Medical Center, Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Case Western Reserve University and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at NEOMED. He was also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Lloyd has contributed numerous academic publications throughout his career and was credited for identifying several new dermatologic syndromes including Cowden’s Disease, which ultimately led to identifying the gene for breast cancer.
In 1991 his daughter, Dr. Jenifer R. Lloyd joined his practice. Together, they established the Lloyd Dermatology and Laser Center at 8060 Market Street.
Dr. Lloyd leaves his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen, of Canfield; two daughters, Dr. Jenifer R. Lloyd of Poland, OH (Dr. John L. Dunne), and Dr. Jessica A. Lloyd of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren, John L Dunne, III of Minneapolis, MI, Kenneth Lloyd Dunne of New York City, NY, Jon Benjamin (Preethi) Gotow of San Francisco, CA, Erica K. Gotow, of Norfolk, VA, Andrew G. Gotow of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Luther R (Jeanne) Lloyd of Sun City Center, FL; and two sisters, Jean Ann Eller-Lloyd of Beaufort, NC, and Mary Margaret Lloyd of Leesburg, VA.
Private services will be held.
