Services will be held Friday, 1:00 pm at Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, for Kenneth R. Jones, 93, formerly of Boardman, who passed away Monday at Crandall Medical Center, Sebring, with his daughters by his side.
Mr. Jones was born July 29, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of Raymond C. Jones and Viola Bowman Jones. He was a 1936 graduate of South High School and had
worked as a Driver/Salesman for Isaly's Dairy, Schwebel Bakery,and Wonder Bakery, retiring in 1973. He later worked at Hornes at the Southern Park Mall and Store Engineering Co.
He was a former member of FairView Immanuel Church where he served as a Deacon and on the Board of Ushers. A member of Retired Teamsters of Youngstown, the Nature Club and United Commercial Travelers.
One of his most proudest achievements was having his picture as the milk man used for advertisments with Isaly's Dairy. It was in the yellow pages in the 1940's and 50's. Everyone knew him as "The Milk Man".
Ken is a WWII US Army veteran serving with the 76th Armed Infantry Battalion in Germany, France and Belgium.
His wife, the former Betty Guttridge, whom he married June 16, 1940 died July 27, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ormiston of Minerva, and Virginia (Robert) Paskey of New Middletown, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Guttridge of TN, Dean Guttridge of CA. Also six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents is a brother Richard Jones, a niece Judy Saul, a great granddaughter, Carrie Jo Quinn and a son in law Denver Ormiston.
