Youngstown - Kenneth C. Jones, 87, peacefully passed away on September 11, 2024 at the Hospice House in Youngstown with his family by his side.
He was born September 29, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of the late Edward and Theda (Wells) Jones. He graduated from Struthers High School and went on to work as a machinist for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Research Center until it closed. He retired after 20 years of service at General Extrusions Inc. on September 30, 1999.
Ken enjoyed various activities, such as bowling, darts, and bocce. His true passion, however, was golf. He played in several leagues, including for St. Luke, where he was one of the first members when it was established, and spent countless hours on the course perfecting his game.
In addition to his activities, he was deeply involved in his community and church. As a dedicated member of St. Luke Church, he actively participated in church events such as working bingo nights, baking kolachi, and working the annual church festival. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and also served as an altar server, showing his commitment to his faith and the church.
Above all, Ken was a devoted family man. His love and dedication to his family were unparalleled, making him an incredible role model and source of strength for his loved ones.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 65 years, the former Antoinette "Toni" Scarfo, whom he married July 25, 1959; his children, Cindy (Joe) Waller of Virginia Beach, VA, Linda Jones of Youngstown, OH, Ron (Tracy) Jones of Naples, FL, and Jeff (Melissa) Jones of Delaware, OH; he also leaves 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and a brother, Edward L. Jones.
The Holy Name Society will hold a prayer service at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. and immediately after, a memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Coitsville.
