New Middletown - Kelly Sue Stevens, 49, died early Wednesday morning, July 13, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Kelly was born March 21, 1967 in Youngstown, a daughter of Donald and Margaret "Peggy" Christ Stevens.

Kelly was a 1985 graduate of Springfield Local High School and the joint vocational school, where she studied word processing. At the age of 19, she moved to Houston, TX and later Plano, TX. Kelly worked as an administrative secretary for Aker-Kvaerner while in Texas. She moved back to this area six years ago.

An animal lover, Kelly enjoyed her companionship from her dogs Lucky and Charms. While living in Texas, Kelly volunteered her time with the Animal Guardians of America. In her free time, Kelly enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers, working complicated jigsaw puzzles, and shopping and reselling at consignment stores.

Her husband, Kevin Soard, whom she married October 20, 2006, preceded her in death on February 10, 2010. Kelly is survived by her mother, Peggy of New Middletown; sister, Colleen Smith of New Middletown; father and mother-in-law, Don and Kathleen Soard of Plano, TX; brothers-in law, Shannon (Susan) and Jason (Brooke) of Plano, TX; her dear aunt, Phyllis Miller of Youngstown; uncle, Charlie (Nancy) Christ of Chicago; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her close friend, Chris Wheeler of New Middletown.

Kelly was also preceded in death by her father, Donald; paternal grandparents, Maxwell and Mattie Stevens; maternal grandparents, George and Agnes Christ; and brothers-in-law, Gene Smith and Aaron Soard.

A Celebration of Kelly’s Life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at noon at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, with Pastor Paul Burgeson officiating.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
