Kay Eileen Commings, 75, of Youngstown died unexpectedly December 31, 2017 peacefully at her home. She was born August 24, 1942 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Georgetta (Davis) Welker and was a lifelong area resident.
Kay was a 1961 graduate of The Rayen School was currently working for the Youngstown City School District at Youngstown Central Kitchen, and had formerly worked at South High School’s cafeteria. She was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church in Youngstown. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Donald Jay Commings, whom she married February 24, 1964 died January 14, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Kay Commings of Youngstown; her son, Roland (Alayne) Commings of New Middletown; four grandchildren, Ashley, Sabrina, Patrick, and Kayla Commings; her sister-in-law, Sharon Commings; her brother-in-law, Richard Magni Sr.; her beloved nieces, Michele (Bruce) Ciccone, and Kathleen (Sam) Valentini, and her nephews, Richard (Jane) Magni, Bobby (Tina) Commings, and Donald (Denise) Commings. She also leaves many cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and special friends. She also leaves her grand dog, California.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Virginia Commings, her beloved sister, Erla Magni; and her brother-in-law, Bob Commings.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday January 5, 2018 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
