Canfield - Kathy L. Tesyk, 60, of Canfield, died early Thursday morning at Northside Medical Center Valley Care from complications due to Diabetes.
Kathy was born January 1, 1953 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Harber Ramsey and was raised in Boardman.
Kathy was a 1971 graduate of Boardman High School. During high school Kathy sang with the group "Up with People." After graduation, Kathy and three other "Up with People" friends decided to travel the United States, going out west and as far as California.
Returning to Boardman, Kathy enlisted in the United States Army, serving stateside at Fort Eustis, Virginia, during the Vietnam War. She later moved to Maine and worked as a statistical typist for Liberty Mutual Insurance. In 1975 Kathy returned to Boardman and studied theatre at Youngstown State University.
Kathy was musically inclined and loved singing, writing songs, and playing the guitar. A talented artist, Kathy loved painting in oils. An animal lover, Kathy especially loved horses and her cats. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word searches. Kathy was an avid football fan and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Youngstown State. She loved traveling and spent six weeks in Germany and cruised the Carribean with her husband. Most important to Kathy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, California.
Kathy leaves her husband, Andrew J. Tesyk, whom she married November 29, 1985; three daughters, Deborah Haines of Boardman, Kerry (Sherman) Gumbs of Newport News, VA, and Leslie (Michael) Warren of Lisbon; two sisters, Diana (Jack) Parillo of Austintown and Carol (Mark) Stengel of Alpharetta, GA; one brother, Robert (Wendy) Ramsey of Rome, GA; three grandsons, Sherman and Brandon Gumbs, Nicholas Haines; and one granddaughter, Khloe Warren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 AM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, at the new location, 8536 Market Street, Boardman.
Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
