Kathryn âa�A"Katieâa�A� Roemer Naples, Florida- Kathryn âa�A"Katieâa�A� Helen Roemer died September 30 in the Cleveland Clinic of Naples. Mrs. Roemer was born in Youngstown a daughter of Cliff and Hazel Ralston and lived in Struthers and Poland before moving to Naples in 1977. Mrs. Roemer was a 1929 graduate of Struthers High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and a manager of the basketball team. She was a lifelong member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church. She had volunteered as a Gray Lady at North Side Hospital in Youngstown; was past president of the Lyon Plat (Struthers) PTA for many years and was the first president of the Struthers Community Center. During WW II she served as an air raid warden. Mrs. Roemer was a former Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Girl Scout Council. She was a member of the Poland Garden Club. She enjoyed creating with needle point, making quilts and shell items. Mrs. Roemer earned a Life Master in Bridge in 1972 and later earned the Golden Life Master. She was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Group at the Naples Bridge Center where she served on the Board of Directors and was chairperson of special events. She taught bridge at many Naples country clubs and traveled on numerous âa�A"bridgeâa�A� cruises. She leaves her husband of 72 years James L. Roemer; a daughter, JoAnn (Dick) Creed of Struthers; a son, James (Donna) Roemer III of Hartstown, Pennsylvania; a sister, Harriet Hart; a niece, Linda Hart Behm, both of North Augusta, South Carolina. She leaves seven grandchildren and ten great-grand children that knew her as Katie. A celebration of Katies life will be held at a later date. Material tributes may be made in the form of contributions to the Katie Roemer Memorial Fund of the Church of the Rock 118 Massachusetts Avenue Poland, Ohio 44514. Arrangements are by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home of Struthers.
