Katherine "Kate" A. Soisson, 89
YOUNGSTOWN - Katherine "Kate" A. Soisson, 89, died Sept. 13, 2013, at Hospice House.
Mrs. Soisson was born March 3, 1924, in Carbon, Pa., daughter of Albert and Myrtle Brest Akers.
She was 1941 South High School graduate. Kate was a waitress and later went on to be the manager for the Sportswear Department at Hills Department Store in Austintown for 12 years. She retired in 1987. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church. Kate enjoyed plastic crafting and spending time with her family.
Her husband, William R. Soisson, whom she married Aug. 20, 1945, died Aug. 15, 2004.
She is survived by five daughters, Debi (Augi Bukovi) Soisson of Struthers, Jean (Doug) Merritt of St. Clairs Shore, Mich., Nancy (Don) Glista of Poland, Sherri (John Elash) Bees of Boardman, and Barb (Gus) Hlebovy of Campbell; one brother, Carl "Butch" Akers of Youngstown; 12 grandchildren, Kevin and Shelly Merritt, Lori Rose, William Markovich, Nicole Irvin, Don, Dana, and Sarah Glista, Kelly and Kaytee Bees, Jen Cosma, and Bill Lyon; and nine great-grandchildren, Amber and Christopher Irvin, Helena Merritt and Andrew Galbraith, Thomas and Gio Hite, Savannah and Ashlyn Cosma, and Issaih Markovich .
Besides her parents and husband, Kate was preceded in death by siblings, Fred Akers, Barbara Yannetti, Hazel Flynn, Betty Bartlett, and Herbert G. Akers; and a great-grandchild, Kennedy Irvin.
A memorial service will be held at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, Monday at 7 p.m.
Friends will be received from 6 to 6:50 p.m. at the funeral home.
