OREM-Katherine (Shevetz) Opsitnik, 67 died Monday, December 4, at her residence after a long battle with asthma. Mrs. Opsitnik was born January 9, 1919 in Lowellville, a daughter of Pete and Anna Gardos Shevetz. She was raised in Lowellville and lived in Flordia during WW!! before residing in Utah in 1946. She worked for Safeway Meats as a meat packer before becoming a mother. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Utah and loved knitting, crocheting, cooking and ceramics. Her husband Michael J. Opsitnik whom she married Decemver 20, 1943, died November 24, 1989. She leaves a son, Michael (Sue) Opsitnik at home; three sisters, Ann Primavera and Dorothy Iudiciani both of Lowellville and Peggy Kollar of Struthers; and one granddaughter, Cassie. besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Kotouch and Helen Retort; and six brothers, Steve, John, Pete, Joe, Andy and Mike Shevetz. There will be funeral services Monday at 10:00 am. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral home, Struthers, and at 10:30 am. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church .
