Karen Theresa Glozer Turek, 75, of Struthers, died after a short illness, Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019 at Heartland of Twinsburg.
Karen was born November 7, 1943 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Alfred and Madeline Nemeth.
Raised in Youngstown, Karen was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1961. She received her LPN from Northside Hospital where she worked in the cardiac department. For the last 16 years Karen was employed as a bookkeeper for Nemenz IGA accounting department in Poland.
A skilled bowler, Karen bowled in many leagues during her life. She was the Director of the Youngstown Women's Bowling Association where she served in many capacities, including Sergeant of Arms for two years, Vice President for four years and President for nine years. In 1999 Karen was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame and in 2003 she was inducted into the Curb Stone Coaches Hall of Fame.
Karen's first husband, Steve Glozer passed away in April of 1998. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Leon Turek, whom she married November 25, 2016; two brothers-in-law, Daniel (Kathy) Glozer of Struthers and Donald Glozer of Richmond, VA; two nieces, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Mihok and Lisa M. Strines all of Boardman; three great nieces, Lexxi and Abbi Mihok and Ava Strines; one great nephew, Zachary Mihok; two step-daughters, Susan (John) Filipovich of Boardman and Lisa Francis of Boardman; and one step-son, Gary (Brenda) Turek of Boardman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Struthers with Fr Martin Celuch officiating. Friends will be received Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church. Karen will be interred at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
