Julie A. Mollis, 80
Poland: Julie A. Mollis, 80, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday morning July 23, 2019 at Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
Julie was born August 17, 1938 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Zaprzalka) Surowiec.
She graduated from South High School in 1956 and was a lifelong area resident.
Julie was a secretary for GMAC in Youngstown for 30 years, and then enjoyed being a homemaker and babysitting her grandchildren.
She was a member of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church in Youngstown, where she attended elementary school. Julie was a champion bowler in her twenties and also enjoyed horse racing, polka music and many wonderful vacations taken with family throughout her life.
Julie is survived by a daughter, Julie E. Rinehart of Poland; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Martin) Brown of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, William R. Rinehart and Madelyn Rinehart, both of Poland; four step-grandchildren, Kevin (Caren) Purcell of Struthers, Melissa (Todd) Schnuelle and Valeri Purcell, both of Albuquerque, NM, Meagan Purcell of Boston, MA; four step-great-grandchildren, Logan Teston, Vance Schnuelle, twins Juliet Purcell and Genevieve Purcell; a sister, Ceil Wilkins of Austintown; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Surowiec of Texas and Jeannie Surowiec of Arizona.
Besides her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Robert S. Mollis, whom she married on May 14, 1977, and who died June 29, 2007; and two brothers, John Surowiec and Eugene Surowiec.
There will be a prayer service on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, with Deacon John V. Terranova officiating and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church, 764 5th Street in Struthers. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Cunninghan-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow in the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Animal Charity, 4140 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 in memory of Julie.
Julie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and lived by her faith. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
